Why is the FiltraHome Box Mini only compatible with tap water?

When you discover the FiltraHome Box Mini, one question often comes up:

“Why can’t it filter water directly from a well, a river, or rainwater harvesting?”

The answer is simple: the FiltraHome Box Mini was specifically designed for residential tap water systems.

And this choice is intentional.

To make our technology accessible to private individuals, we miniaturized a professional solution so that it could be easily integrated into a house or apartment, while ensuring performance, ease of installation, and reliability.

But filtering raw, untreated water requires a completely different approach.

Technology designed for the residential network

Public water already meets a certain number of health parameters defined by the authorities.

Even if it may still contain:

  • chlorine;

  • PFAS;

  • pesticides;

  • heavy metals;

  • drug residues;

  • microplastics;

  • or unwanted tastes and odors…

…it remains stabilized and controlled water.

It is precisely for this type of water that the FiltraHome Box Mini was developed.

Our goal was to create a solution that is:

  • compact;

  • simple to install;

  • suitable for a home;

  • electricity-free;

  • chemical-free;

  • with a high level of filtration.

Why does raw water require a different approach?

Raw water (from rivers, wells, boreholes, rainwater harvesting, etc.) can vary enormously from one location to another.

Unlike tap water, its composition is never stable.

It can contain:

  • bacteria;

  • viruses;

  • high turbidity;

  • sand;

  • iron;

  • manganese;

  • organic matter;

  • pesticides;

  • nitrates;

  • or specific contaminants related to the local environment.

And above all: these parameters can change over time.

Water may be perfectly usable one month… then become much more contaminated after a rain event, a drought, or nearby agricultural activity.

Why is analyzing the water essential before filtering raw water?

Every raw water source has its own characteristics.

Before installing a suitable solution, it is therefore necessary to perform a complete analysis to determine:

  • microbiological quality;

  • particle load;

  • potential presence of metals;

  • chemical parameters;

  • turbidity level;

  • required flow rate;

  • and specific site constraints.

It is this analysis that then allows us to properly size the filtration technology.

Without this, it would be impossible to guarantee:

  • performance;

  • system lifespan;

  • health safety;

  • or the machine’s compatibility with the water to be treated.

Why didn’t you make the FiltraHome Box Mini “universal”?

Because a system designed to filter all raw water would be:

  • much bulkier;

  • more complex;

  • more expensive;

  • more demanding to maintain;

  • and often oversized for standard household use.

We therefore made the choice to develop a machine specifically designed for private individuals connected to the water network.

This currently allows us to offer:

  • a compact format;

  • simple installation;

  • reduced maintenance;

  • comfortable daily use;

  • while maintaining a high level of filtration.

Technology derived from larger solutions

The FiltraHome Box Mini is directly derived from technologies initially developed for much more demanding uses.

For several years, we have also been designing solutions capable of treating more complex water in different contexts:

But these configurations always require a study and sizing adapted to the actual quality of the water.

This is why solutions intended for raw water cannot be standardized in the same way as a residential system connected to the public network.

The FiltraHome Box Mini: a solution designed for everyday life

The FiltraHome Box Mini was designed to meet a very specific need: improving the quality of tap water at home.

It notably allows for the reduction of:

  • tastes and odors;

  • chlorine;

  • PFAS;

  • heavy metals;

  • pesticides;

  • microplastics;

  • and many impurities present in tap water.

All this:

  • without electricity;

  • without chemicals;

  • and directly on the main water inlet.

Can another FiltraLife solution be used for raw water?

Yes.

Depending on the type of water and the need, some of our professional solutions, such as crisis and agricultural solutions, can be adapted to untreated water.

But this systematically requires:

  1. a water analysis;

  2. a technical study;

  3. specific sizing.

This is essential to ensure health safety and system performance.

FAQ – FiltraHome Box Mini and raw water

Can the FiltraHome Box Mini be connected to a well?

No. The FiltraHome Box Mini was designed solely for residential tap water.

Can rainwater be filtered with the FiltraHome Box Mini?

No, because rainwater requires an analysis and treatment adapted to its actual composition.

Why must raw water be analyzed?

Because every water source has different characteristics. An analysis makes it possible to choose the appropriate technology and guarantee filtration quality.

Are there FiltraLife solutions for untreated water?

Yes, some professional solutions can be sized for raw water after technical analysis.
