How does it work?

The FiltraLife nanofiltration: how does it work?

Behind the ease of use of our solutions lies cutting-edge technology: membrane nanofiltration. Long reserved for industrial applications, this technique now allows everyone to enjoy exceptionally pure water at home, directly from the tap.

The problem: tap water under pressure

Even in France, a country renowned for the quality of its tap water, many contaminants evade conventional treatment processes. Water treatment plants are designed to remove large particles, bacteria, and certain chemical compounds, but they struggle to retain emerging micro-pollutants.

Among these problematic contaminants:

  • PFAS ("forever chemicals") — resistant to degradation
  • Pharmaceutical residues — stemming from domestic and industrial waste
  • Pesticides and herbicides — particularly present in agricultural areas
  • Heavy metals — lead, mercury, cadmium, nickel
  • VCM — linked to old PVC piping
  • Micro-plastics — increasingly present in all water sources

The solution: nanofiltration

Nanofiltration is a membrane technology that uses membranes with pores on the nanometer scale—that is, one billionth of a meter. At this scale, the membrane retains problematic molecules while letting water and essential minerals pass through.

The 3 stages of FiltraLife filtration

Stage 1 — Pre-filtration
The water first passes through a pre-filter that catches visible particles (sand, rust, sediment). This step protects the main membrane and extends its lifespan.

Stage 2 — The nano-carbon filter
Our proprietary filter, composed of nano-structured activated carbon, captures chemical compounds: chlorine, pesticides, pharmaceutical residues, PFAS, and VCM. This step also eliminates bad tastes and odors.

Stage 3 — The nanofiltration membrane
Finally, the water passes through the nanofiltration membrane, which retains the finest particles: heavy metals, viruses, bacteria, and micro-plastics. Essential minerals (calcium, magnesium) remain present in the filtered water.

What sets us apart from reverse osmosis

Reverse osmosis, often presented as a reference technology, has several major drawbacks:

  • It totally demineralizes water, making it less beneficial for health
  • It wastes a lot of water — up to 3 to 4 liters of water lost for every liter filtered
  • It consumes more energy due to the necessary pressure
  • It often requires artificial re-mineralization after filtration

FiltraLife nanofiltration, on the other hand, preserves minerals, does not waste water, consumes little energy, and produces balanced water.

Technology adapted to every use

For individuals

The FiltraHome Box Mini is designed to be installed in under 30 minutes under the sink or at the point of use. It filters approximately 3,000 liters per year — ample for a household.

For professionals

The FiltraHome Box and the Catering Solution are sized for the intensive use required by food service professionals, with adapted flow rates and treatment volumes.

For agriculture

The Agricultural Solution is a robust unit designed for the specific constraints of livestock farming and irrigation: high flow rates, heavily loaded raw water, and outdoor installations.

For crisis situations

The Crisis Solution is an autonomous and mobile unit capable of rapidly producing drinking water in degraded conditions — natural disasters, humanitarian interventions, and accidental pollution.

Measured and certified performance

The performance of our systems is validated by independent laboratory testing. Our IANESCO certification attests to the compliance of our products with the strictest French health standards.

Simple maintenance, lasting performance

Our systems are designed for easy maintenance. Nano-carbon filters can be replaced in a few minutes, about 1 to 2 times a year depending on usage. A saturation indicator alerts you at the appropriate time. Replacement cartridges are available directly on our site.
