Réunion Island

Around here, we don't all have the same tap water

In Reunion, one in four inhabitants is still not connected to a secure water network, and what comes out of the tap changes from one town to another, and from one season to the next. Filter your entire home, without electricity or chemicals, with an installer based on the island.

What you might notice

Three signs not to ignore

None of these signs are a diagnosis. But when one of them happens regularly, it means your water deserves a closer look.

Sign No. 1

Taste and smell

A smell of chlorine, a metallic or earthy taste, or cloudy water after heavy rain. It is the most common signal, and the easiest to check: fill a glass and smell it.

Sign No. 2

You no longer drink it

You buy bottled water, you boil it, you warn guests not to drink from the tap. When you have to plan your life around your water, it means you no longer trust it.

Sign No. 3

Skin and hair

A feeling of tightness after a shower, dull or brittle hair. Household water isn't just for drinking: it also touches your skin twice a day.

These signals do not replace medical advice or a water analysis. If you notice any health problems, speak to a healthcare professional. To find out the quality of the water distributed in your town, ARS La Réunion publishes analysis results at eaudurobinet.re.

Water in Reunion

Potable doesn't mean perfect

In most parts of the island, the water distributed is considered potable according to French regulations. But the reality varies significantly from one network to another, and from one season to another.

1 in 4 inhabitants

in Reunion is still not connected to a secure water network. As of 2025, 74% of the population was connected to a network that allows for better quality control throughout the year.

🌧

Rain changes everything

After a cyclone or heavy rainfall, turbidity rises sharply in surface catchments, and water consumption restrictions are frequently issued.

🏘

It depends on your street

Two neighboring towns can be supplied by very different resources and treatment methods. Quality is judged network by network, not at the scale of the island.

🛠

And your pipes

Even when water leaves the plant in compliance, it then travels through the network and into your home's system. The last meter counts as much as the first.

The solution

Frequently asked questions

What we are asked on the island

How much does it cost?

The price depends on the model, your installation, and the setup required. That is precisely why our reseller will contact you: they look at your configuration and provide a clear, no-obligation proposal.

What about silica?

This is the question we are asked most on the island. Silica exists in two forms: colloidal, as negatively charged particles, and dissolved. The first is retained by the hollow fibers and electro-adsorption, and our reseller observes a clear reduction at the outlet on the installations they have carried out. The second, dissolved, is not targeted by this technology. Laboratory analyses are ongoing to precisely quantify the result.

Do I need a plumber to install it?

The machine connects to the main water inlet, downstream of the meter. Filtr'innov OI handles the installation or puts you in touch with an installer, depending on your situation.

How often do you change the filter?

Approximately every 6 months, depending on your water quality and consumption. Filters are available locally, without waiting for shipments from mainland France.

Does it remove limescale?

No, it is not a water softener. The machine intentionally retains calcium and magnesium, focusing instead on PFAS, pesticides, microplastics, and heavy metals, while eliminating taste and odors.

What if my water comes from a borehole or private source?

These installations require a preliminary study of your water. Please indicate this in the form: our reseller will tell you what is possible before making any proposal.

Which towns do you cover?

Filtr'innov OI covers the entire island. Enter your town in the form, and they will confirm the intervention timeframe for your sector.
